Bibliographical note

This article build on my research into the forced disppearance of Mr Amarildo de Souza by the pacifying police units and BOPE, and the ways in which official spatialities and temporalities deny political subjectivity to victims of state-sanctioned violence.

King's Authors

Inspired in the existentialist philosophy of Albert Camus and the Netflix series, Hellbound, this article explores the problem of forced disappearance in Brazil, and the ways in which state-sanctioned attempts at imposing meaning onto this phenomenon can reduce the humanity of victims and bereaved.
